    Tracing the History of Shingu
     
    Shimazu, located in Kumanogawa-cho, is an enclave of Shingu, about 30 km north of the city center.
    The area holds a special connection to Shingu's history, as trees cut from the mountains were once transported on rafts from Shimazu down the Kumano River to the city center.
    Explore the same path the raftmen once traveled with a local guide.
    While strolling along the moss-covered Raftmen’s Path, let your mind wander back to the days when the raftmen passed through, breathing in the same clean forest air.
    Afterward, take a boat tour through the beautiful Doro-kyo Gorge, located just upstream on the Kumano River, in a traditional Japanese-style boat.

      • Within 10 days of before the reserved date – 20% of the total booking amount
      • Between 7 and 2 days before the reserved date – 30% of the total booking amount
      • One day before the reserved date– 40% of the total booking amount
      • On the reserved date – 50% of the total booking amount
      • After the start of the tour, including no-shows, will be charged 100% of the total booking amount

      If the reservation is canceled due to bad weather (actual or forecasted) or other unavoidable circumstances, we will notify you by phone by the evening of the previous day. In such cases, no cancellation fee will be charged.
